Volunteers still Welcome

It was a busy week in Turfcare, the week of Oct 7-13. The greens and the rest of the golf courses are in terrific condition.
We had a few volunteers help us this week: Dr. Mori, John Campell and Gary Moores helped us with drill and fill loading and spot sand filling of partially filled holes. Dr Mori also did some cart path edging that would put a man to shame half his age. Thanks Gentleman for your help. Volunteers are still welcome.

We have completed holes 3,4,5,and 7 with the drill and fill. Although due to wear on the drill bits most likely did not achieve the full 12" removal of old root zone on #7, and to some degree similarly #5. Drill bits usually last 80,000-100,000 square feet. Ours lasted only 30,000. This excessive wear is no doubt due to the extremely coarse root zone we are dealing with on 3-11 on the Champions Course.

Next week we will continue volunteer work as well as drill and fill if the weather cooperates, dry weather is needed for the procedure. Thanks for your patience during theses procedures to improve our golf greens.
